    Early militia or patriotic button?

Found this beautiful button at 1800 house site. Would this be military or possibly a Jacksonian patriotic button?

Looks like American Navy officer's button, 1810's to 1830's, but the stars are missing. The ones I have seen are surrounded by 13 stars.

"And so the population was gradually led into the demoralising temptations of arcades, baths, and sumptuous banquets. The unsuspecting Britons spoke of such novelties as 'civilisation', when in fact they were only a feature of their enslavement." Tacitus, Roman Senator and Historian, written AD 98.

The Bald Eagle photo...he/she posed for me, gave me it's best American look. I felt privileged to get the shot.

My name appears among those who gave Ffuries answer a Like. So yes, I agree with his identification of your button.

Yeah, but your word is pretty much the gold standard on certain topics around here. I might have pointed in the right direction, but you're the final answer.

Even sweeter now that you have a positive I.D.
