    what is it ?

Been Cleaning out , & decided to Keep this over sized Marble

    Looking Closer I Don't think it's a Marble

    It has a Plug.

I looked Close with a Magnifier & It does not look like it is Broken off
of anything. The Top of the Plug is Perfect smooth

    2 marble's for size comparison

Not a Gumball But does remind me of the Old Timey Prize Gumballs
that used to be Mixed in the Machine at the local Store that used to taste like
it was 100 when ya Chewed it instead of Turning it in for the Prize.

Looks like a bennington marble to me. They were fired in groups and the glaze touched the neighboring marble and left spots.

I've found a Bennington clay doorknob frag before, but I had no idea they also made clay marbles for kids.
Kudos to villagenut for the I.D.

"Captain John Norton founded the Bennington Pottery in the late 1700's, aiming to make pottery for the community's needs. Such as jugs, pitchers, and kitchenware. Opening in 1793, Bennington Pottery was one of the most innovative potteries of its time. They were especially known for their stoneware jugs that were used for everyday activities. The first examples made by Norton were the Redware, which was covered with a lead glaze. He also made salt-glazed stoneware."
