    Button ID Help please

    Hi everyone.
I included this button as a reply to my own post in this thread: More Buttons from the Farm! (another Dandy?)
But because it was buried many replies down I'm not sure anyone will see it and be able to help with ID, so I'm giving it its own thread here.

The button was found on a farm in a field where an old house that dates back into the 1700's was located. At this location I've found two "Dandy" flat buttons, a Draped Bust Large Cent (1796-1807 too damaged to tell the year) and other coins and buttons from the early 1800's.

This is the first button that I've found that's curved with a design on the front. It's about 28mm in diameter and design looks like a braided ring of some sort. There's a scratch in the middle of the ring with patina in it, so I suspect that's original; it doesn't have any other designs.

Can you offer any thoughts on this type of button and its age please?

Just a civilian, late 1700s flat button with a decorative design, not that there's anything wrong with that.
The scratch is just wear and tear and happened a long time ago given the patina as you said.

Nice photos of a cool old button. It will look nice in your collection. Congratulations!

It turns out that my agreement with the farmís owner is that I will give him everything I find - which is totally ok with me. His daughter - maybe 10 years old - loves these buttons and has been putting together a collection. I offered to work with him and his daughter to make a shadow box to display them. (For me the thrill is in the hunt and the discovery, along with the research to learn about what we find).
I do get to keep the pictures!

(And I worked it out with him that I could keep the 1831 Large Cent I found last week; I have a coin collection and that coin fit into the collection very nicely).

While Iím typing: I found this 1882 Indian Head Cent just yesterday at his farm:
