Looks quite modern to me. The quality of the design is not near as good as "dynastic" Chinese. It also looks like brass rather than bronze, and the general workmanship just is nowhere near that of the ancient Chinese who were amazing craftsmen.

PS, maybe delete your double posts on both your items?

I have to agree with the above. The very brassy colour, lack of the deep rich patina seen on old bronzes, poor definition and relief on the casting, low artistry, and absence of any period marks all suggest this is neither a quality piece, nor of any great antiquity. It might be vintage but is the kind of thing mass produced in places like Hong Kong for the home decor market.

I will never understand posts such as this.
"Here's a close-up pic of an exhaust bolt and a closer pic of a motor mount weld. What year and model car do I have ?"

A straightforward picture of the item, coupled with some measurements goes a long way at an identification site.

Also the artwork itself is indicative of the period...

You can't wash patina off ancient bronzes and leave them looking like your piece. I see verdigris, which you can wash off to some extent if it hasn't taken too strong a hold... ie has recently formed.

Yes, in poor quality and artistry like that, it's indicative of the modern period.

SEASONED-TH - You came looking for opinions on this piece and you got them.

Many people here are quite knowledgeable across a wide range of subjects. A LOT of different items get posted. If you're being told it's a relatively modern piece and not worth much by everyone who's commented in this thread, you can count on it to be true. if the people here aren't sure what they're looking at they say as much.

As far as the ribbing, it's good-natured. Don't sweat it.

Oh, and Red-Coat, how much for the Ming vase? I'm impressed by the provenance.
