    Confederate?

Hi fellas. Just wondering if this buckle is Confederate or just civilian. Also wondering if the item above it is a scabbard tip. Thanks for looking!

The top brass part looks to me like a .54 burnside cartridge from the civil war. The frame really does remind me of a confederate frame but I’ll let someone with more knowledge tell you, great finds.

Your buckle is Civilian-usage, not Confederate. The long thin tines on it are made to pierce into a cloth/fabric strap, not a leather belt or strap. Those tines and the buckle's size indicate it is most likely a suspenders-adjuster buckle.

Sorry, but the odd brass object above the buckle is definitely not a scabbard-tip.

You didn't ask, so you probably already know:
The brass tab-shaped object with two small rivets and what looks like a keyhole in it is a corset-busk fastener eyelet, a version which was invented and patented in 1869 (post-civil-war). See the original US Patent diagram showing it, below.
