    Is this a pendant?

    Hi
I found this in a yard of an academy built in 1826. The grounds however have a rich Native American history dating back thousands if years. I found this - brass rings with an iron blob.
It is 1 inch long. Could this be a pendant to be worn around the neck? Perhaps a trade item of Native American?s and French or even Jesuit?

Your find appears to be a mid-1800s pocketwatch winding key. The part your fingers gripped to turn the key was usually brass, and the actual "key" part was usually iron -- which is why there is a rust-blob on that part of your find. See the photo below for what looks like a nearly exact match-up with your find.
