    Re: Medical Device?

I doubt its a medical device. I work in surgery, and medical instruments are almost always completely stainless steel so they can be sterilized. They also rarely have springs, because they don't last, and they are hard to sterilize.

It does resemble a speculum, which is used to hold things open so the doctor can look inside, but I don't think that is what it is.

That was my thought but it's probably too small.

I believe you have a fruit pitter.

    B

There are several kinds - I have 2 of them (cherry pitters), and they look similar to this one, but more like the item you have.

    PS,
Unless you want to go blind, do not do a google image search for "speculum." Very graphic.

I may never be right again.

I did one for Fruit Pitter but wasn't going to attempt speculum as I am at work.

    Thanks for the laugh.

    Re: Medical Device?

Seems to me that I've seen that same tool in my dentist's hand more than once. I could be mistaken and I don't have any idea what it's called, but I have an apointment for a checkup in two weeks so if you don't find out what it is by then I'll bring a printout of it with me and ask. Bluezman

    Re: Medical Device?

Did you find 2 of them? The first picture has round base while the 2nd is ovally. I realize this is at a different angle, but the first doesn't seem to match the second. Seems to match what everyone else says...pitter. I guess the oval version gives you more "thumb coverage". lol :P
