Cat N' Dog Fight
This little brass box measures 2 1/4 inches x 1 1/2 inches . It has a curved interior . It is very heavy for its small size .
I was thinking ...inkwell?....but there is no black residue ?
Any ideas ? .........Age ?
thanks!

If the inside has a curve built into it , it is a stamp box. Early 1900's. I see a curve. Check out the stamp box on this link.

It looks to me like an old stamp box (holder). I have never had one like this with figurals on the top - but have collected quite a few that have flat, curved or partitioned interiors. Mine were from the early 1900s.

i am sorry but i am telling the truth! i bet the lid is really heavy to open, i would play with two identicle boxes at my grandparents!
im sure they called them tinder boxes, they had some different animal on top though but the box is the same.
i will get some pics next time i see my nan!
funny thing though my grandad grew up in the usa !
