    cannon ball I think

    I found a 5" diameter ball it has a 1/2' wide ridge around the middle. There are no markings on it and it weighs about 20 pounds any idea what it is or how old it might be#1#2

    Judging by the lack of heavy rust, I would say it looks like a ball bearing from a huge piece of mining equipment. Just my guess
    Exposure to the Son prevents burning

    If you found it in Utah it is probably a milling ball used to crush rock/ore.

    It is not a cannon ball. The "band" around the middle would not be there if it were a cannon ball.

    I really did not think it was because there were not many cannons in the So. Utah area, but you can always hope. Guess I will use it for a paper weight.
