    Token

Could anyone tell me about this token?

On the side with the cross looking image it has "Good For 5 Cents In Trade". Theres a name inside the cross I think it's "O. Cloose".

On the reverse side what I can make out is "The JM" a hole "unswick & Balke Co". On the bottom of this side it has the word "Check". Also looks like there may be a picture of a box on this side.

    Thanks for your time

    Re: Token

It's a c. 1874-84 "pool check"— a token good for a game in a pool hall or billiard parlor. The J. M. Brunswick & Balke Co. of Chicago specialized in billiard tables and supplies, saloon furnishings, etc. Prior to 1874, J. M. Brunswick and Julius Balke were competitors. In 1884, B&B merged with the New York firm of H. W. Collender, becoming the Brunswick-Balke-Collender Co.
    Forgotten but not gone.

The second entry notes there is a book available on Brunswick tokens.
