Metal Dart? Any ideas as to what it's from? Or used for? ID'd -> CAP BOMB
I found this metal dart in a campground this weekend. Haven't quite figured out what it was used for. It's fairly heavy cast metal, is olive green in color, and the nose rotates and can lock in position. Anyone ever seen anything like this? And can shed some light as to what it is?

Welcome aboard, GrafeR. Glad to have you with us.
What you have there is a piece of every boy's childhood. It is a cap bomb. You take a cap from the roll (like the kind used in cap guns) and place it in the nose (the part that move), twist the nose closed, and throw it in the air. Great fun. Hope it helps.

Welcome GrafeR
Cool find.
I seem to remember cap bombs with a plastic tail
and
the caps we used were loaded on individual little discs of paper, coloured red of course.
From memory and I'm really stretching now - the little round caps came in a little round cardboard packet.
Cheers, Mike

OH BOY!!! its my old toy I played with as a kid -- a cast metal "cap bomb" -- rip one "dot" off the paper tape cap roll-- unscrew the "cap bomb" nose put in in ---then screw the "nose" back and chuck it --when it hit "bang" it went off ---great fun back then -- sadly ---it'd be a real YAWNER by todays kids standards-- Ivan

We used to use the blue tip from matches, louder than caps

Cool find. I used to love those things. Here's a link to some various types of cap bombs including one like yours.
Thanks for sharing and for bringing back some childhood memories.
