    Gemstones experts needed!!!! help.

    Hi- Folks!!! Been busy hunting that elusive gold. Anyhow... this ended up in my sluice box. Some form of gemstone.Black with diffrent colors as well amber crystal.

    I'm hoping it is a black diamond!!!! "Go ahead shoot me down from the clouds.." makes a nice clinking sound in my glass tube anyway.

    Any help is much appreciated!!!!

    Looks like raw black opal. It is found in California and Nevada, I know. The pics below are the cut and polished version.

    Bakergeol is on to something also.

    I would say that if it has a glassy appearance it would most probably be one of the gemstones I mentioned. If the black is a more dull flat appearance, the bornite is a better possibility.

    It is hard to tell in your pic due to the small sample and some fuzzing of the photo.
    An undisciplined hunter with a highly capable machine will miss many more targets than a disciplined hunter with a limited machine.

    Sorry about the pics.....need to upgrade.Glassy it is!!!!!
