    ID my straight razor??

    Reposted from Collectables...
    (Didn't get any responses.)

Why MDing a old 1920s homestead near Boutte, Louisianna, I uncovered a bunch of junk. Obviously this had been a dumping place for a long time. Metal trash was everywhere! I didn't find any coins of note, just a few clads, but I did come across this neat find. Its an old straight razor, with a black ?plastic? handle. (I can see now the handle is wood as the grain is showing.) On the tang it has what looks like a partially worn trident, very much like the symbol for Wustoff-Trident cutlery. The other side had "4/8PA". I couldn't find on the web where Wustoff-Trident made any straight razors, though. Any help on IDing the maker, age, etc. would be helpful. Thanks all in advance.

The handle could be hard black rubber or it could be ebony wood. It could also be wood grain celluloid. Its older than the invention of modern plastics. Cant help with the blade.
I live in a state of rules where I am not permitted to live on my own country land because my home is not 130 MPH rated! I can only visit it from time to time and pay the fines.  I feel so safe with Big Government protecting me. In some states its illegal to collect rainwater.

Do some electrolysis on it to clear up the engraving. Pretty and old and interesting. Thanks for sharing!

Well it's good to know I'm not alone. I believe the 4/8 is the width of the blade in inches. So yours may be 4/5"?? Might want to measure and find out. As far as the PA vs SH, who knows??
