old chinese coin - need experts

I am trying to identify this Chinese coin. It may be old (square hole, uneven width edge, etc). It is 20mm in diameter. The reverse is pretty worn.

Any clues about the period/ dynasty/ emperor/ etc.?

    Thanks for the help!

I'll try to figure something out but with so many details being... well, worn - it'll be tough.

Update: I'm useless... I just can't see enough to work with ... Sorry.

Hopefully someone else can attribute it for you.

    Thanks Montana Jim!

I found this website with coins that look similar to the one above. They are a bit larger, but the edges look similar. Also some coins don't have mintmark (blank reverse). I wonder if mine is one of them.

Yea, some are kinda wanting to be similar, but I don't see a match there. Maybe I'll get time tonight to look some more - this is gonna be a tough one!

I am thinking that the characters on the sides of the coin are those for T'ung Pao. The symbol on the bottom may be for Cheng. I am not sure about the top symbol (Hsuan?). There are no symbols on the reverse so this could be an older coin pre 1550s.

    Any other suggestions?

    Thanks.
