    Little Silver Alligator?

OK, this one is a puzzler as well. We found it at a house site deep in the woods. There were some shotgun shells found that day as well--all of them old. This was the only item found newer than the 1920's...

    So is this old?

It looks silver underneath a more gold-colored surface, and it rings up higher than "dime" Rodeo Recon's Ace 250.

Wierdest thing is the design--I wouldn't think it'd be a great design for hanging around the neck... The crook in the tail is similar to the design of some hairpins. The tail is reattached with solder, so it must have been special to someone at one time.

    Any information is much appreciated.

    Re: Little Silver Alligator?

its a a stylized form of jewelry clasp --the tail is the hook however its been pulled "open" abit more than normal ----the chain is permantly attached to the loop at the head of the gator and a loop at the other end is slid over the tail as the "catch" --very cool --Ivan
