    Spoon maker?

This is a "whom?" rather than a "what?". This spoon is marked "J. Allyn", but I can't find ANY information about this maker online. It has some sort of little maker's mark after the name, (which I failed at taking a good photo of) but its not like a British Hallmark that would help in IDing it. It may or may not be silver, but for now all I care about is "who is this maker?" and "when was it made?". Its too flimsy to scoop ice cream, so its functionally useless in my eyes, but any info about this maker would surely be appreciated. -Ben

It looks like "coin silver" which was mostly made before 1870
