Decorative copper piece, but what?
I dug this copper piece up at the 1830's house today, but have no idea what it is? I was hoping for a belt buckle, but that wouldn't have the same decoration on both sides.
The piece is about 1.5" x 2.5".
Any idea of what it is and/or the age?
Thanks,
MM

Re: Decorative copper piece, but what?
MM,
I have no earthly idea what it is...but the design looks more Art Deco than anything--which would put it at 1930's or later.

Re: Decorative copper piece, but what?
The center of it was broke off as you can see, recently though corrosion is why. It is a belt buckle, womans 30s or 40s.
New toys take time to learn to use: New forums takes time to learn to use! Its why people prefer their old ones.

A brooch. The mounting points for the pin are visible on the reverse.

Art Deco Brooch - I like that idea. I bet it had a huge glass stone in the center too...

Would BOTH sides be decorative on a brooch?
Lostcauses-
No corrosion in the center. What you see is where I bent the piece back flat.

Stamped from a sheet. Look at the design again and you will see that back is the reverse of the front design, (what is raised on the front is inset on the back). Could be a brooch or a buckle depending on whether the missing part was a pin or a bar.
