Does anybody know about this error?

This belongs to a friend and I told him I would post it. Does anybody know what this might be worth? It is exactly the size of a nickel. Thank you Mary ann

Re: Does anybody know about this error?

Looks like an off-center strike--likely due to some sort of malfunction in the "collar" when struck. As I recall, these are worth a few bucks--$3-$6. I think it depends on the type of coin that the error is on (penny, dime, half dollar, etc...)

I'm sure a coin guru will come along shortly with more info. This is just what I recall from my teenage years as a collector.
