Oriental coin with square hole ~ Chinese?
I dug this one yesterday near the University of Oregon. I assume it's a Chinese ten cash cast coin, right? Anyone know more about it?! THANKS!
Got dog tags? I'm looking for old dog tax tags and dog license tags! From any city, any county, and any state (prefer pre-1970) ~ oddcoins@msn.com

Your coin represents the one depicted here:

I am of the opinion it is a replica based on the grainy backing of the coin. I can show examples but need to find them - let me know and I'll post the replica examples later, after I walk the dog.

It also has no corrosion.
I live in a state of rules where I am not permitted to live on my own country land because my home is not 130 MPH rated! I can only visit it from time to time and pay the fines. I feel so safe with Big Government protecting me. In some states its illegal to collect rainwater.

Here are a few sites that sell the replica coins:
http://www.windycitynovelties.com/EP...=13968&CatID=0
http://www.skybluepink.com/global.html
http://www.mamasminerals.com/page/MM/PROD/BEC-CHIN3
http://www.articusstudiodesign.com/id71.html
While there are zillions of actual Chinese Cash Coins out there being found and dug, there are also these replicas almost everyplace. The grainy back ground and clear crisp condition is a dead giveaway... often sold in packs with other coins.
See this recent post better explaining the replicas against an authentic coin:

An actual Ch'ien Lung T'ung Pao coin is common, in fact, is the most common standard cash in the history of the Chinese coinage. Making even the actual coin, unfortunately, almost valueless. Check this ebay listing of 40 coins from the dynasty - priced at just under $30.00 with shipping.

Hopefully this helps... if you are not comfortable with my comments please by all means have it checked out...
