some interesting beach finds - please help identify

These items were found on the beach a couple of weeks ago after storms. Trying to identify and date them.

The lead bullet has a brass/copper shell. How old does it look? What .cal?

I'm gonna take a guess and say the bullet is 30 caliber, looks too small to be a 50 cal. The pendant, if I'm not mistaken, is a kokopeli. There was a night club some time ago in my area with the same name and that symbol was on the front of the building.

Pic. 2 is a fired rifle or pistol bullet. It is "mushroomed" from striking something or somebody.

Yes, I believe you are right willie. It is Kokopelli.


Who is Kokopeli?

According to Hopi Indian legend, Kokopeli (the flute player and traveling prankster) was the symbol of happiness, joy, and fertility. He would visit villages playing his flute, carrying seeds in his backpack (the "hump" he is pictured as having). Everyone would sing and dance through the night. Then, while the people slept, Kokopeli would roam the corn fields, playing his flute. The next morning the people would awake to find the corn almost full grown and Kokopeli gone, and many of the young women of the village pregnant. One legend has it that he is responsible for the end of winter and the coming of spring. When, the story goes, Kokopeli comes playing his flute, the sun comes out, the snow melts, the green grass grows, the birds begin to sing, and all the animals gather around to hear his songs.

the one is modern bit of native american "tourist" indain folk jewelry --the bullet is modern too (copper coated equals modern bullet )--however you did find an excellent old style buckle or strap type item that could be very very old -- Ivan

Don't know about the rest but the bullet is a fairly contemporary design, designed to mushroom on impact to form a larger wound channel. Early bullets were of very large calliber because engineering hadn't invented the mushrooming bullet yet. Monty

no question about the hopi Kokopeli, the bullet was fired through a rifled barrel and hit something looks to be 30cal full jacket. I have found a bunch of those rusty strap guides ( a lot of them were on the old style weight belts for diving).

I've never seen a .30 cal full metal jacket mushroom like that. I have shot around 10,000+ of them in my life time. If it is a .30 cal it is likely a soft point, that is with exposed lead at the very tip before being fired. At any rate, we know for sure it is not an old bullet. Monty

I agree soft point. I have removed softpoint slugs from deer and hogs that look like that.

I agree strap or belt guide, part of the total adjustment, might be stainless.

The strap has MADE IN USA written on its lower edge. It is probably modern!

Does anyone know what the item in the first two pics is? I am guessing part of an old key door plate.
