# 3 Banner Whatzit, Not a banner find but....
This came from an 1800's schoolhouse site. It's brass and three inches in diameter. The underside looks to have the remains of a mesh screen of some sort. Any ideas will be appreciated, thanks,
Jerry

Re: # 3 Banner Whatzit, Not a banner find but....
My first instinct is something that came from an oil lantern, but there isn't a hole on this piece where it should be...
I really have no clue. Can you read the patent info at all?

I think Buckles is on the right track, Banner No. 3 sure sounds like something to do with lamps, most likely Kerosene/Oil types.

For undug coins this is true. For dug coins this is untrue.
The value will increase with judicious cleaning."
