I originally posted this in the Indian Artifacts forum but that doesn't mean it's "Indian"...I've taken it to our Center for History and they don't really know but added that it *could* be a lead paint stir. A good friend of mine (a retired asst. dean at Notre Dame) was intrigued by it but he doesn't have a clue, except to say, "yeah, it's definitely stone and NOT Geofact."
If additional pics are needed I'll belly up to that plate when I get home from work.
I found it in Northern Indiana...not by water..inland.
While I have aimed in my postings to be irenic and conciliatory, rather than polemic, I have yet endeavored to set forth the
truth, let it favor or impugn whom it might. Any notice of misrepresentations or mistakes occurring in these prose will be most thankfully received
by the author.

A "lead paint stir" ?? lol He must be joking. Is it made of lead? or for "lead paint"??. I dont understand.
well, bigcypresshunter, SHE commented that it could've been used to stir lead paint. Beats the heck outta me...
maybe she licked one too many lead paint chips?
lol I think you could stir lead paint with any old wood stick. lol OK thanks for the explanation.
Im going to guess that its Indian. It looks like Matts picture. Interesting find.
Ya know bigcypresshunter, 2 months ago, just south of here 2 (possibly 3) mastodons were discovered in a man's backyard. Naturally I had to do a search and see what a tooth looks like, not a tooth...but maybe this is it's origin:
Hi wirelessworldinc. I see your a Hoosier gal too. I'm in the "Bend"...what part of the state do you hang your hat? Oops, where are my manners...nice to meet ya and thanks for the confirmation...i appreciate it
The end surface shown in the last pic sure looks like bone . I think bigcy first suggested the possibility.
Dinosaur tooth?
Can you tell us the weight please vibes; and dimensions
Mike
lol Thank You for giving me credit. The thought occured to me when he said "ya touch it against your teeth, it has a 'tinny' sound to it." But i was thinking Whale or Walrus or a bone. I didnt think of dinosaur. Maybe one of those types with spikes on their tail or back. Wow, would be a great discovery.

BigCy (if I may), from your posts I've read, you deserve all credit.
Regarding this Whatsit?,
I'm prepared to be convinced that it's a celp, but that last pic "sure looks like bone".

I meant to ask - did the police arrest them?
but seriously
I have searched high and low and can't yet pin this down, but the old mind boggles at the possibilities.
Is it possible to see some better pics of each side and the sharp end?
