Tennessee National Guard Mexican Border Service Medal

I have a medal that was given to my grandfather from the Mexican Border Campaign 1916-1917. He served with the Tennessee National Guard. The front side has a soldier standing with his rifle in a shooting position and bordered with "Tennessee National Guard Mexican Border Campaign 1916-1917". The back has "Presented by the Tennessee National Assembly to "Swep Rogers". I thought it was just a coin because it does not have its top ring for its ribbon but I have recently realized it was a medal. I would like to find further information about it (ribbon colors, how many were issued and approximate value). My dad said that it had survived a house fire that occurred when he was young and his grandfather used to tell stories of chasing Poncho Villa around in the company of BlackJack Pershing. I would like to restore it with its ribbon and mount it with a photo that I have of granddad in uniform with some of his buddies.
    Thanks for any help,
    Phil

I found this award to national gaurd members who served on the Mexican border from May 9,1916 to March 24,1917.It only shows one side. The colors may be the same.Does the back look similiar to this picture?I will continue to look.

Re: Tennessee National Guard Mexican Border Service Medal

Sorry to say that I looked in all my reseach books on medals and the internet(google) and I couldn't find anything.I only found one medal that was for a state national guard for the 1916-1917 Mexican border campaign and it was for Texas. One thing is that in the early years TNG was known as Tennessee State Defense Force. It might help research the different units that were sent to the border from Tennessee and reseach biography of some of the men who served in that time period like from the 3rd Tennessee infantry. Good Luck! Jim Houston
