    ID Please ??

My friend in Wartrace, Tennessee found this and sent it to me to see if I could find out what it is. He does not have a computer to post this stuff. He found it in a Civil War camp, but I know for sure it is not Civil War or I don't think so. It is stamped brass and the rings are solder together. Thanks

I believe it is an early Victorian Era brooche. You can see where the pin was on one end but is now broken off and the catch is still in place. It is large but that is what it has to be.

The design of the three rings was used a good bit back then. The item in the middle of the rings appears to be a Pitcher Plant which has also been used in jewelry off and on through the years.

I have to agree totally wid DaChief. Well done on the ID

I thought Victorian, I thought flower (wrong one), decoration (wrong thing), yet it should have been obvious to me from the 'catch'.
Interesting fact that the Victorian Era valued the Fly Catching plants

    I agree it's a brooch!

It's not a plant... it's simulating pins going through the clothing, the circles would look like a belt's grommet holes... like a false sash buckle...

    Here is another...

I will add that it could certainly be CW era.

The pitcher plants...... Sarracenia Alata X Sarracenia Rosea.
I knew a man who rode his horse backwards, because seeing where he has been was much less scary than seeing where he was going.
