Ive been detectin g in an area where there is red iron rich soil and it gives my XLT fits. Sometimes it wont ground balance, always reading overload and becomes unstable.
Any ideas? I have reduced the preamp gain with very little help. reducing the ac dc sens/gains help a little. wondering ifi need a dd coil or what to adjust

Sounds like your using the stock coil. Now I love the Spectrum and XLT but the weak point was lack of coil types especially DD's. I think the only one Whites produced was a small elliptical (Blue Max Shooter ??) which just didn't seem to perform well.

I should look around for the 5.3 Bulls Eye or B.M.600. and try sweeping a little higher than normal. I prefer to keep Pre Amp up but drop AC sensitivity quite a lot.
