The Mxt 300 has a matte black finish and the 12 inch coil. The Mxt e-series has a glossy finish and the 950 coil. Other than that they are the same detector.

Yep what asphaltcowboy23 said just the paint and coil is different, otherwise its the exact same detector its just called the MXT300 because of the 300mm coil(or 12" coil). HH

If you are comparing two detectors, of which one is the MXT 300 and the other is an MXT E-series with the 950 coil, the MXT 300 is going to be the newer of the two. If you are shopping, buy the cheaper of the two, and put a 10 inch D2 coil on it. The MXT really works well with that coil.

Got it, I thought that was the case but wasn't sure. I have the MXT e-series, but saw the 300 and wondered if it was an updated one or not. Thanks again.

True enough. However, it is common practice to refer to the MXT with the 950 coil as the E series and the MXT with the 12 inch coil as the MXT 300. The MXT pro is a whole other animal and is called the MXT pro without reference to the coil since it only comes with the 300.

The mxt pro is available with the 950 coil also

I stand corrected. It is indeed available for $50.00 less than the 12" coil version.
