I have a problem with my v3i shutting off on me. I'll turn it on and it turns right back off. I changed batteries thinking it was dead. The battery is charged and I tried brand new batteries too. It will turn on sometimes for a few swings then cut off. ????

Check your battery contacts. Does it play a tune before shutting down?

I agree. If you have bent contacts or any corrosion it could be your problem. If not it's either a loose connection or a faulty part on the board and it will need to be sent in for repair I'm afraid.

A bent or compressed contact is my guess. I've gotten into the habit of gently sliding the battery in, instead of dropping it in so it bounces. You can also take a small pencil eraser to the battery terminals in case there's a sheen of varnish/crud.

The answer is there somewhere. I've read about this situation over the years.

If you Drop your battery in, it tends to push the contact pins down. If the battery door does not spring back when you close it.. (battery holding it open with the upward pressure of the contact springing it up) then the contacts have been bent and need to be bent back toward the door so it keeps contact. That is what everyone means by bent battery contacts. You slammed the battery in one to many times and it is now loose in the box..

I'm afraid if I bend it back myself it will void a warranty

Bend them back gently if they are bent. Broken or bent the warranty will still be covered. They cannot tell if you tried unless you mangle something.

I would contact Whites and let them walk you through there trouble shooting procedures. They will most likely replace anything on it for free weather you did or not. I have never had a problem that they didn't take care of for free or couldn't fix over the phone. Good luck and keep us posted

Send it in to whites, mine did the same thing to me. Do you get a black screen with a white bar as well... It takes a week or so to get it back but mine was only 2 months out of warranty and they covered ot.
