    some help with the DFX...

    Hey guys
Just got the DFX after about a yr with my IDX pro. Just wanted to see if anyone could tell me some of there favorit programs to try. I have this field that has produced many good coins aswell as some real nice artifacts. So i need a program that will pick of everything like nickle, brass, copper, gold and coins. I tried relic mode but there is too much iron for that. any ideas would be great.
    Thanx
    Keith

    Ugotit
I have had a DFX and about 16 months now. Its a great machine and I love it. I like you also have an IDX Pro that my wife and friends use. Both are good machines but my fav is of course the DFX. I am still learning a lot about the machine and use the pre programed settings alot and then depending on the ground and what I'm hunting I'll tweak the preamp, sweep speed and then finally ac sensitivity. I am still reading the book Digging Deeper with Jeff Foster. I would highly recommend this book as a leaning and backround tool. There is also another forum dedicated strictly to the DFX at www.dfxonly.com. Lots of good info and folks there. Many have developed other programs that they will share with you if you'll ask.

Best of luck, HH and dig deep

Re: some help with the DFX...

    Hi ugotit,

I use the jewelry/beach preprogrammed mode. According to Jeff Fisher,
"Digging Deeper With The DFX, he calls this the "enhanced" coin/jewelry
mode. It turns on the "tone ID and VCO". Really works great. I like
it very much and hunt in this mode 99% of the time.

I have found everything from coins (1865 two cent piece last week),
jewelry and relics. If you pay attention to the tone ID, coupled with
the VDI numbers, signagraph bars and steady ICONS, you will find
    many things of all types.

I would also suggest as other posts have that you get a copy of "Jeff's
book. I think that's the "bible" for the DFX and worth its weight in gold.
    You won't be disappointed.

Hope this helps alittle and Good Luck.

This IS noisy so if you do want a quite machine that does not beep on more or less everything ignore this program!

    Target Volume 48 [User preference]
    Audio Threshold 17 [User preference]
Tone (Audio Freq) 215 [User preference]

    Pro Options: Audio

    Ratchet Pin-pointing OFF
    S.A.T Speed 6
Tone I.D ON [Needs to be on for better iron ID, listen for good targets]

Hot Rock Reject 6 [If you've got problems with hotrocks turn it up]

    2 Frequency (correlate) ON
    V.D.I Normalized ON
    1 Frequency (3 khz) OFF
    1 Frequency (15 khz) OFF

Use this to look for good targets in and among iron, works great for me.
Correlate allows me to set AC and Preamp quite high..Also seems to lighten the iron signals...
If in heavy trash turn down sensitivity! Also use a small coil and go slow!
    Enjoy,

Yes try it but be prepared for quite a lot of noise! Just a warning so to say, it is very noisy.
