anyone know how to test the groundtracking on a m6/mxt?
just playing around with this new m6 and so far am greatly impressed...been awhile since i've had a whites land machine and it feels great to be swinging one again...anyway, how can i test to make sure this m6 is tracking the ground as it should? My old white's made you go through a sequence to balance it...they tell you in the manual for this machine to pump it a few times and it is ready. The manual also said you could pump it over a hot rock to reject them...i've tried various metals to attempt to duplicat this but cannot get the machine to null any out...i am probably overthinking this but would still like to test the machine to make sure it is properly tracking the ground...BTW, this has got to be one of the fastest machines out there..as fast as i can wave a coin back and forth under the coil this bugger responds. should prove great for seperating targets in the field.
thanks
john

It has probably one of the fastest if not "the" fastest ground tracking available, same as the MXT. The easiest way to tell, I think, would be in an area with changing ground conditions, buzz through it and see if it remains stable.

Hotrocks have very small amounts of iron in them.. In autotrac, find a deep signal and continue to swing over it a few times or let it sit over it.. If the signal intensity fades then it working.. I run with it locked so it doesn't tune out the target when locating it..(my soil doesn't change much) Just make sure you GB in a metal free area!!
