Just bought a used 300. just had one coil 8 by 14 deep scan coil. Going to relic hunt and coin hunt. Anyone know anything about this coil? Should I buy a smaller coil? Thanks Danny

    Hi Danny,

You got yourself a good machine. The coil you have is a great coil, it's large, will cover alot of area at once,
will go deep and certainly will detect relics and coins. However, I would consider a 6X10 DD White's coil.
I have one for my DFX and it works GREAT! Smaller, lighter and I have found everything you can imagine.
Works extremely well for coins, jewelry and relics. I have found over 400 coins this past summer with it.
White's also make a smaller version, 4X6 DD Coil that is great for seperating out trash targets and detecting
in smaller tighter areas. You can't go wrong with any of White's "DD" coils for your machine. Those are
my coils of choice for either the MXT or the DFX. Hope this is some help to you. Good luck and you will
have great success with your new machine. Doug

Thanks Doug, Think I will go to the smaller coil. This coil is a little heavy. My arm gets lock-jaw after about two hours of detecting.

It's not much good in a park or littered area but if you are detecting for relics or searching a field etc. you have a perfect coil on there now. You will find more conditions though that you will need smaller coil.

    Re: MXT 300 need help

The 6X10 stays on my MXT unless conditions dictate otherwise. The new 10" round DD is getting good reviews but it is an open coil and not very useful getting snagged hunting wooded areas and the 6X10 will get you closer to tree trunks, poles etc. It is a great all around coil. The weight differences do not sound like much between coils but when you put that weight at the end of a rod and hold it out at an angle, after a couple of hours there is a big difference.
