Disappearing signals, DFX, Pro6000 XL
Does anyone out there have a problem with either their DFX or Pro6000XL as far as digging a plug and the target vanishing. I have to go to pinpoint mode to find it either in the plug or still in the hole. This happens more when it is wet outside. Any thoughts Thanks jgas

Re: Disappearing signals, DFX, Pro6000 XL
The problem I have is I lose the target all together. After I get the plug out there is no target to find I can not get the detector to sound off again. So I move on...Matt

Yep, that happens to me all the time. I go to pinpoint and scan completely around the cut plug. It usually detects it albeit a scattered signal. If it was silver though it sounds off fairly well. Just seems crazy that the signal is gone after the plug is cut. Not really an overload factor either...Strange...

Re: Disappearing signals, DFX, Pro6000 XL
Hey Jgas my xlt does that on almost every plug I cut. Unless it is somthing big. I have had times where I can see what I am digging for at the bottom of my hole and the xlt wont pick it up. I love my machine and have learned what it is telling me over the years, so I never give up til i find what it is I was looking for. The machine will almost always still pinpoint the target though even after the plug is cut. So I know this doesnt help your problem but my machine does it too. Good luck.

Thanks Mainer, at least I know I am not going nuts. I do detect until I find what the heck set it off to begin with. I know it is in there. Sometimes I have to put the plug back in the hole to get a signal back. It is strange but I suppose it is all a part of the learning curve with these machines. Thanks again for the reply.....jgas

A good hand held pinpointer should do the trick on that .
Mac

ive found that usualy the coin got turned when the hole was dug and is on its edge on the side of the hole and can be very hard to find . i used to leave them after a long search and just refill the hole but now got a bullseye two when i got my dfx . ive found a lot of silver over the years but not one silver coin since i got my dfx. i find a lot of wheat pennies in areas i thought i hunted out with the 6000s and even a large cent my first with the dfx but not one silver coin . ive had the dfx three years now and don,t get to hunt as much as my wife has a lot of health problems . im going to find silver this year
