    Relic hunter looking for help....

100% of the detecting I do is for civil war relics. I am looking for some advice on which white's detector to purchase. I have a friend of mine that has an xlt, but I've been told that the mxt is a "better relic machine".

What about the mxt 300? Is it that much different than the mxt? Is it just the coil?

Also, have any of you guys/gals bought one of the new white's detectors and had any luck?

I'm sure I'll have more questions. Thanks for the help.
Keep your coil to the soil!

MXT 300 just comes with the 12" coil standard and matte black finish, other than that, same as a regular MXT. The MXT operates in the 14khz range which is hotter on lead, brass, and gold, therefore should be a better relic machine than the XLT which operates on 6.59khz. Good luck with your decision......

I have used the XLT for relic hunting, with good results. My rule of thumb is that you need two machines. You never know when you will need a backup...get a used MXT and play with both.

If it has to be a Whites, then I agree the MXT is probably your best bet for the money for relic hunting.
