Who likes MXT's pin-pointing ear splitting volume loudness?

I've owned my MXT for over five years now and have to say it's really a great detector. My beef has always been with the pinpointing ear splitting volume. Can't understand why White's engineers didn't/don't engineer a limiter circuit or even a volume control to take care of this "ear-itateing" nuisance! I've always found it necessary to use my volume controlled headphones because of it. There are a lot of times that I don't really want to use headphone but really don't want the whole world looking at me when ever I pinpoint a target. Summertime in Florida, with headphones, really makes for sweaty ears. With the display for pinpointing you don't even need the sound at all! What cha think? Is it just me "whining" or a problem that could/should be resolved by White's?

Sometimes it seems like Whites doesn't listen to the customers input at all. For years they produced a coil for the water detectors that floated so you had to hold it down or fill a sock with sand. You can try taping foam over the speaker to muffle the sound.

I wonder how shooting some crazy foam thru one of the speaker holes would do?

I wouldn't shoot any foam through the speaker holes as it would be hard to remove if it blocked to much sound.

I love the sound and wish that I had the same sound with the Prospecting Mode. Pinpointing does not work in the Prospecting Mode. The sound lets me know in the other modes when I am on top of the target. Turn your volume down and use head phones. You will save on battery life as well.....
