Thanks , Iv'e been around the GMT detectors , they are good detectors. The GMZ is the one I was seeking user info on.

Re: Whites GMZ ?
Hi,
I have one but have not had a chance to get out with it yet. 50 kHz as opposed to 48 kHz so it will not interfere with the GMT but can use same coils. Comes with same 5" x 10" DD coil as the GMT. Only $499.95 list price so lowest price nugget detector on the market. Only two knobs, gain and ground balance for super easy operation. Silent search (no threshold) all metal (dig it all) manual ground balance. No pod so slightly lighter than my GMT. Looks to be a great little entry level unit or good second machine for somebody that already has a GMT. It will probably only be stocked by dealers in gold country. Might be a hot little beach machine though.
I want to see how hot it is with the small coil. I planned on giving it a go today but other plans came up so some other day.

Re: Whites GMZ ?
Thanks Steve, and a good question by extractor.
Does it have the black sand/mineralisation quantity reading? Can you turn silent threshold off? I went to their website and no info on it as yet.

Re: Whites GMZ ?
Hi,
It has exactly what I said it does, and no more. There is no readout, and there is no threshold. It is an entry level unit designed for ease of operation. It is not a replacement for the GMT. If you want readouts and thresholds, that is what the GMT offers. The goal with the GMZ was to keep the controls to a minimum and the price under $500.

Re: Whites GMZ ?
Hi,
I don't see anything wrong with offering a basic unit. The GMT is not going away and someday I'm sure we will see an improved version.

Re: Whites GMZ ?
Hi Steve,
Have you had a chance to use the Gmz? I can pick one up at my local dealer. They have it in stock but this dealer does not know a thing about detectors and testing it there will not happen. Looking for your input on the unit. I know it is basic but how smooth is it over hot rocks? Hows the sens compared to the GMT?
Thanks for the info!
