Matrix M6 opinions please
Hello everyone,
OK, so I purchased an Ace 250 to carry in my car, and after taking it out for a couple of long hunts to 4 different parks, I knew it was definitely not for me. So I am sending it back on Monday and am going to upgrade. I have been looking at the M6 to carry with me at all times in my car, and to act as my V3 backup if ever needed. It looks like a really nice detector, and it looks like I could use my V rated V3 coils on it as well. It has many features that I like, such as auto tracking/ground balance, VCO, a beach setting, 7 tone ID, all metal, etc. It seems like it would be a perfect detector for spur of the moment hunts or to lend to people that want to come along with me and try metal detecting. Any opinions on the M6 by those familiar with it would be appreciated. Thanks.

My girlfriend has one and it is a very nice detector. Especially for parks and beaches. I think it would be a very good choice.

Re: Matrix M6 opinions please
I have one, keep as a backup or for someone to try out as it is so simple to use. Great machine in the trashiest spots, using a smaller coil of course. Its no depth monster and like most other TIDs it looses its ability to identify targets as they get deeper. I like to lock my ground tracking once I get it balanced, which is very simple to perform.
It really is a nice machine, the only thing I dont like about it is,no threshold, its a silent hunter.
Best,
John

I can't really compare the M6 with the Ace 250, but I can tell you it has been a good machine for me. It is easy to use, and with the stock 9.5" coil it has found pennies to a depth of 9" (just a whisper of sound at this depth). I keep my M6 in the my car for several months of the year. When it is very cold or hot I'll bring it in-- its still too expensive of a machine to take the chance of harming it.

I not sure about going with a M6, you're talking about going from a 220.00 machine,
to a 700.00 machine.
that would make one heck of a backup.
you could buy a used DFX for that kind of lardolls

The m6 is a simple, well built, machine. Not much adjustment to be done. Thinking abt parting ways with mine to get an xlt.

Re: Matrix M6 opinions please
I borrowed an M6 and put in about 20 hours with it, found 24 silver and about 100 wheats, some at 8+ inches with stock coil. All these finds and story are posted in the Metal Detecting section. This is a very good mid range machine with high end features. I rate it 9.5 out of 10. The only thing I can think of I don't like is that the adjustment knobs are very free moving, and tend to move around if you rub them against brush or tall grass.

I am guessing because I do not know for certain (still waiting for my M6 to arrive in the mail) that a person could put rubber o rings under the knobs to keep them from moving so easy, I have done this many times with the Tesoro's I have had. Steve.
