mxt search coils
White's was running a special for Christmas. I bought an MXT, and for $99 they send you a pinpointer, bag, and search coil of your choice. (also got a free coinmaster-store was running their own special) I got the super-12 coil. The MXT comes with the 9.5 coil standard. My question is, are there specific scenarios that i would want to use the super 12 with? I have put it on the machine and i seem to pick up alot more junk, but being inexperienced, i thought i would check and see what everyone thought. i am sure the reason i am getting more trash is because of the areas I'm searching in. should i be using this coil primarily at the beach?

Re: mxt search coils
I use my super 12 for, 1. socker fields
2. desert hunting for nuggets
It gives good depth and covers a lot of ground
I'll just follow you with My E-trac ! ! ! !

The S12 is a fine coil. I used one for a while. Any larger coil with have issues in high trash areas. Inexperienced ? No problem. Big coils will frustrate you at first. My suggestion. Get a 4x6 "shooter" , hit ALL those areas with it . it is very very forgiving and weaves in and out of trash letting you concentrate on good tones. Your confidence will grow. After ....then go bigger. My Coin / relic machine is a MXT. I run a 4X6 shooter, a D2 10" , and a SEF 18x15, for deep ,deep lower trash areas. All these coils have a place , and I use all of them equally. My SEF is a heavy bugger. I sold the Super 12, as the SEF crushes it when it came to depth. The big coils do have their place.
For nuggets I use my GMT, or my ML GP3000 mostly. I have found nuggets with the MXT, all were using the small 4x6. It did well but no contest against the GMT for the smaller nuggets. The VAST majority of nugget finds are in the single digit grain size. The MXT can do that with patience. Good headphones will help drastically. Hope this helps.
Good luck
