Need Advice on what to do.

Well here goes, I am sure this has been asked but I could use some help on making a decision. I currently have a XLT and found a great deal on a new MXT. My question is should I just keep the XLT or should I get the MXT. Will I be gaining anything with the MXT, I do most of my hunting in parks, old farm properties, and old schools. The parks and schools have all been hunted but still finding items, mostly clad. If I keep the XLT I will probably look for a beach and water machine to hunt the fresh water lakes in my area. I am just curious if the MXT with its newer technology will work as well or better than my older XLT. So do I keep the XLT and get a water machine or do I get the MXT and get the water machine later. I will be doing more land hunting than water hunting.

Thank you in advance for your replies.

After posting my last comment I checked the white's site (click the white's logo at the top of the screen) I seems to me that going from the XLT to the MXT would actually be a step down.

If you get time, take a trip over to the Brookville dam. According to my mother she used to swim there when she was growing up and we always went there on weekends to swim. I don't get back to visit often but have always wanted to detect that spot.
If you know any Park's Beatty's or Coleman's they are probably my relatives. My family goes back several generations in that area.

Good lead there, I used to swim there when I was a kid too. I know some Park's and Beatty's. I have lived in Brookville, Punxsy, DuBois and Falls Creek. There are alot of historical sites and old abandoned home sites in this area. I am still looking for a detector to use for the first time this spring.

There is nothing wrong with the XLT and the only "advantage" you'd get by getting the MXT is the fun of learning a new detector. It might not find more than your older one, but you know that one well so it works for you. The MXT just reports things differently is all. My fun comes from mastering the different machines. It is best to have fun with what you have and only learn a new detector if you enjoy the learning too.

The only thing I can say is they seem to be doing away with the XLT. All the new coils and stuff are all for the DFX,V3,MXT and M-6. But I have used both and both are good machines.

Thank you for your advice and comments. Yes, I do enjoy learning new detectors and I see how this hobby is addictive. I still am not sure which way I want to go but I do know I will be saving up for a water detector as I have a hookah system and do some recreational diving already. I kinda knew I would get different answers as to which land machine would be best depending on who uses which machine but I thought maybe one would be easier or get me a little more depth for coin, jewelry and some old farmstead type hunting.
