White's 5900di not detecting metal??

I just bought this from ebay and received it yesterday.It is like brand new.The problem is after assembly I turned it on and scanned it over a coin and nothing happened.I have a threshold but it won't detect the coin.If I scan the coil over something bigger like the control box it will make a faint beep.I have used several different coils with the same results.Anyone experience this?Thanks

OK you get a faint beep, that means it at least has power from the batteries, are they fresh? Check the disc setting to make sure it isn't turned up past pull tab and better if it is lower. If still won't sound off on coins, it needs to be sent in to White's for repair. Hope you didn't pay to much for it as repairs can eat up a good price.

Yeah batteries are good...switch them out to make sure it was the rechargeable batteries causing the problem...All the settings were on preset or the p icon...think I may have paid too much for it...

At least you have a good detector or at least it will be when White's takes a look at it. We all think we pay to much for detectors, even when new. Good Luck.

Stay away from ebay if all possible. Yes you can get some great detectors from there but it's a roll of the dice for sure. There are lots of places too buy used detectors that stand by there products some even give a year warranty. I know of a few. Yes you may pay a little more but if you buy a lemon off ebay your going too pay alot more. some of the places that sell the used ones also ship for free! Drop me a line I well give you a few too try. I just purchased a whites eagle 2 sl for $250 free delivery.

Make sure the signal balance on the front end of the detector is at P. Make sure the knobs themselves are turning.
