Eclipse Deep Scan Issues / Help Needed

Okay so I have this Eclipse D/S DD 1400 that just does not seem to work for me. I have tried it time and time again with my MXT but it just won't pick up. Ive set my machine all over the scale, tried the different modes but nothing seems to help, am I doing something wrong or is my coil just screwed up? My favorite mode is relic with the controls at; Gain at 10, Dual at 2, and Threshold up as high as comfortable with the headphones. Please help!!!

Have you tried to do an air test to see if it will pick up say a quarter, you will need to have it in the lock ground position on an air test. Do that to see if its working ok, that coil should see a quarter at a good distance. The threshold should be as low as possible just barely able to hear a study tone.

I agree with wingmaster. Please do an air test & note your results compared to an air test of the coil you were using. Although we don't find coins in air, air tests are still very important as a good air test would indicate the coil is probably not defective.

If the air test is good, then try with a planted coin & compare results with your other coil.

You say the coil just won't pick up? Can we assume you at least found something shallow?

Sometimes a different coil requires a different sensitivity setting, so try it in air & on planted coin with various settings.

Does sweep speed affect the results? I heard this coil is quite heavy. Wondering if that might cause you to sweep it slower than the best speed for best depth?

Have you tried the coil at more than one location? It may do good at some locations but not all. Best wishes, George (MN)
