    Re: MXT Beach question

I ran with the MXT 300 for 2 years. It is PHENOMENAL on the beach!!!

In the dry sand, you should have no problems whatsoever. However, in the wet sand the detector might start getting VERY chatty. If this happens, simply back off on the sensitivity until it quiets down and you'll be good to go.

And remember, always hunt the beach long ways (never from water to land). This "confuses" most detectors by going from wet to dry and vice versa

P.S. - Make sure you're in "salt" mode and lock it in

You should have a lot of fun in the dry sand. As was mentioned the wet sand might give you trouble but try to stay in one or the other after GB. Good Luck and don't forget the sunscreen and mirrored sunglasses so the gals don't give you a black eye. LOL. 8)

In Florida, I have never had to back off the gain when at the beach... But if I go from dry to wet, I have to switch it into salt mode or it goes bonkers... But runs smooth as can be at 10+ in the wet or shallow surf when switched to salt mode...
I have found a lot of stuff with my MXT at the beach, just go nuts with the bottle caps... But if you sweep the target and it bounces from dime to quarter to dime to fifty cents, it is GOING to be a bottle cap... Just slowly move your coil in to the edge of the target, and you will see "Iron" come on the screen... Then you know its a bottle cap... That tip has saved me hours of diiging the trash of those worthless animals that toss them down.. Wish I could shove every one I find up the arse of whoever tossed it down... Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr... F'in pigs... Miami is probably the worst I've seen...
You never think you need an extra machine, until the one you have breaks down...

    Re: MXT Beach question

My MXT works good in the dry sand but the black sand here in Central/Northern Ca causes a lot of problems. Even darker, more mineralized areas of the dry sand can cause it to overload and go unstable. I'm not sure how the mineralization is in San Diego compared to here but if you're having to turn the sens down very far I would suggest going to a DD and/or keeping your coil as small as you can. Apparently in Florida, with the low mineralization levels, the problem is bottle caps. Not sure which is worse. JMHO

It isn't hard to tell a bottle cap. They are usually all over the place on the VDI.
