    Coinmaster 4/DB

Hi folks, I got a coinmaster 4/db for free and I am trying to figure it out. First of all the knobs don't seem to turn very far in either direction, like 1/4 to 1/2 way. Is this normal or should they turn further like 3/4 or more?

Second, is it supposed to have a constant tone when it is set right? I have read the manual online and I think I have it set right but it's pretty vague on how it is supposed to sound and the constant tone is very annoying.

If anyone has any tips or info I would really appreciate any help I can get. Thanks,

    Charlie

    Re: Coinmaster 4/DB

    Hey Savant365,

First of all, use this product called "Control/Contact Cleaner & Lubricant", this is a great product from Radio Shack for sticky knobs. DO NOT use wd-40 or anyother type of lubricant! Spray it down the shaft where it enters through the control box. Do not overspray. . . just a little is needed. Come back to it after a minute or two and twist the knob/shaft back and forth until it loosens up. The knobs should start from left to right and back where the marks (printed lines) on the detector should line up with the knobs lines.

As far as the tone (threshold) goes, most detectorist's set the threshold just above it being quiet. It is for you to set at with a constant tone so you can hear the subtle sound(s) when you pass over a metal target with the coil. It sounds like that if its annoying, you might have it to loud. I can't remember if the 4B has a separate volume control.

    Hope this helps,

    TC-NM
