as a general rule of thumb. when it comes to the whites.

they changed the color of the paint on the detector housing

somewhere in the late 80s early 90s.

the blue housing is the older machine.

the black housing is newer and preferred.

the last blue ones are series 3 machines. which are also

    still fairly decent.

anything earlier u r doing vintage detecting.

although many are still in use.

    Re: Coinmaster 6D/B help

The 6db was my second detector back in the early 80's.Even though it had the old style handle it was fairly light and easy to swing. To this day it was one of my favorite detectors and I consider it as the predecessor to the xl-pro.My first suggestion is to go to the Whites website and download the manual, study it and if you have any questios send me a pm.DBULL

the 6db was my first detector in 1982, i probably dug over 20,000 coins beteen 1982 and 1986; had great depth.

mine still works, just needs connector pins redone. it's great for coin and relic hunting.

the 6DB was my first "real" detector back in the day, found lots of great things with it. My best was a 1783 Georgivs Triumpho token. It was a solid machine.
