    Re: 10 X 12 SEF Vs D2 On a V3I

I tested both the D2 and the 10x12 SEF coil on my V3i in my test garden to see which one I liked. Overall, both are good coils and will give you excellent depth. The 10x12 SEF is not as subject to EMI as the D2 coil. So you can use it in high EMI areas that a D2 coil would be useless in. However, since I relic hunt in cornfields EMI is not that much of an issue (as long as you stay away from electric fences ). I choose the D2 coil over the 10x12 SEF because it has better target separation than the 10x12 SEF. I keep an older model 8x14DD coil for locating really deep shells and fragments (1-2" or larger) but a 10x12 SEF would be a better choice and work just as well. As to setting up the 10x12 SEF on my V3i, I selected the Super-12 in the coil selection setup and it worked great with the V3i. Hope this helps....KYBuzzBox

That helps out a lot. Thanks. Im more of a coin hunter myself. And I hunt mainly in EMI infested areas.

    Re: 10 X 12 SEF Vs D2 On a V3I

I use my 6x10DD for coin hunting in parks and tot lots. I use my D2 if I am on old home sites (late 1800's - only ferrous trash) and looking for deep silver. For parks and coin hunting that 6x10DD coil is absolutely surgical on a V3i. HH....KYBuzzBox

    A 6 X 10 is on my list. But I think first im going to get a 4 X 6 then go for a 6 X 10.

Just remember you have to work the 4x6DD real slow. I only use my 4x6DD when I and detecting in a VERY trashy area. The 6x10DD goes deeper and allows you to cover more area. HH....KYBuzzBox
