10X12 SEF coil For MXT 300?

Has anyone here used the 10X12 SEF coil (Butterfly) on a MXT300?
Or have you heard anything about this coil good or bad?
    Thanks!

I have one on its way. Should be here by the end of the week. I have been using the D2 on my MXT Pro and really like that coil. Dug my first silver of the year yesterday with it. 8+ inches. Was a weak signal but did get it to repeat. 1942 Mercury dime. I really have a partiality to DD coils.

I have used several different models from the 5 major brands but now use a Whites MXT with D2 DD coil

I have heard a mixed bag about them. Some swear by them and others have had their machine go kind of hay wire with them when it comes to using one on a Whites detector and they had to send their machine back to Whites. The guys who use Minelab seem to have better luck with them not messing up their detectors and say they out perform their other aftermarket and stock coils. I have heard they are real easy to pinpoint with and that the coil is not all that heavy and does not weigh the machine down. I am not sure what kind of hunting you do but personally I would stick with another Whites coil. I have the D2 also and have had the 6X10 in the past and both of these coils were awesome. If your looking to get another coil I would say try a Whites DD before another name brand. That is just my opinion, Tim

Re: 10X12 SEF coil For MXT 300?

I just got the MXT PRO and the 10x12 SEF coil and I like it. I took it to a park that I have one small part of it that I have pounded to death with my DFX and I found several targets that the DFX did not pick up. It also is fairly trashy and I had no problems with the trash. I only hunted one time with it but so far I think it is going to be my main coil unless I get in a very trashy area and have to use the smaller coil. I have heard more good than bad on the coil. So I give it a thumbs up

Re: 10X12 SEF coil For MXT 300?

I have had the 10 x 12 sef for about a year now and its a very good coil. I use it on the M6 as my primary coil as it detects and Ids better at depth than the stock 950 coil. Being a DD coil it also has better ground coverage but it is harder to pinpoint with and it does read some bottle caps as good targets. It has better separation than the stock coil and really makes my detector shine. Most of the new detectors coming out now are equipped with 11in dd coils. I liked mine so much That I also bought the 8 x 6. Just my honest opinion. Good luck Bob

Re: 10X12 SEF coil For MXT 300?

I used the 10-12 for over 2 years before I broke the cable of of it. They are well constructed and carry a 1 year warranty. I loved it and almost cried when I broke it. I now have the 15*12 and like it as well it is a bit deeper than the 10*12 but right much heavier. I have the 6*10, the D2, the 15*12 and the 5"dd ecxcell. I use them all but the excellerator coils have the edge over the stock ones.
