whites pro headphones does not work on garretts, minelab

i got a pair of whites pro headphones with an eagle spectrum i bought on ebay. it works fine with the spectrum, but it does not work with my Ace 250 or a sovereign xs 2a pro. I can just barely hear something on the Ace. Ordinary stereo headphones work fine on the ace and sovereign. It has a stereo plug and it has a switch for mono or stereo, but that makes no difference on the non-whites detectors.

does anyone have an idea whats up with that? Could it be a resistance issue?

Yes I am assuming there is a impedance miss-match. It was probably done by Whites so you will only use there stuff. If you really want to change it u can use a preamp on the head phones or 2 go in the headphones and change the impedance probably best to use a switch so you can use it on the proper machine too.

Thanks. I fixed a short in the cable, opened the speaker box, cut and soldered the wires. The wires went directly to the speaker, that's all there was in there. So, how would one change the impedance? Wouldn't the problem be that the impedance is too high for these other machines? Or, do I have that backwards?

Ok easy deal.. You need to find out what the impedance is on the detector/s and what it is on the headphones. Lets say its 20 ohms and 100 Ohms difference...

You make yourself a switch or switch in a box with 80 ohms of resistance that you can switch in. Or really just have a different set of headphones for the other detectors

Impedance mis-match;My GreyGhost Deepwoods has a switch that I use to go from my Whites detectors to my Sovereign.Great headphones!
No matter where you go,there you are.
