Price and age of the M6 I just bought?
I just came across an M6 and was able to get it for $250. It was owned by an elderly woman who passed away so her grandson listed it on CL. Is this a good deal for the M6? The serial number is 9063-0000-000. Also on the sticker is a picture of a barrel with an X through it and the date 2009. Is it true the first four numbers of the serial number are the date code? Did I just score a pretty good deal on a fairly new detector? (new to me cause I'm switching from an older Surfmaster II Plus) I can only assume I'll see a big difference in these two machines.

Go and offer her another 150 bucks to stop yourself from feeling guilty of ripping her off coz she didn't know what the detector was worth

Well I don't feel guilty because as I said, I bought it from the grandson after she had passed away. He did know what it was worth but I believe I got a great deal because I replied to him first before he could get any higher offers.

I wouldn't care what age it is except if it had warranty left, the shape it was in would be all that matters and the price you got is great. HH

I do not think that is right. my XLT has 7176 and according to the way you did it mine would of been made the 76 day of 2017. It could be read as- 6/17/2007 and his as 3/06/2009

I could be wrong, but I think 7176 would be the 176th day in 2007....
