    Deepest seeking coil for DFX.

I've recently heard from people that have used the bigfoot on the DFX, and don't seem to think the depth is that good.

From your experience, is the 12" spider, or DD1400 better for depth.

I've also heard that people with the new 12" spider coil have to turn the sensitivity down, which to me would defeat the purpose of better depth.

From what I've read the DD1400 is less sensitive to interference, which seems to would allow for greater depth.

Opinions from those who have used one or both coils on their DFX?

I have both coils. All things equal, I'd say the depth is about the same. The 1400 is a DD type coil so it should have the advantage in high mineralizatoin soil and is pretty heavy. The Super 12 is a concentric coil and only weights 3 oz more than the stock coil.

I have the super 12 coil

I have it on the BEACH HUNTER ID....which is just a DFX that is water proof....it is very deep...still finds small stuff..this coil is very stable and I can turn the sensitivity up much more than I could with the stock coil......I hunt on salt water beaches..this is the toughest area for any coil...like I said I can run it hot ...no false signals!!! the improved depth is great!!

I like the Super 12 and the EXcelerator 10x14. I've seen alot of 1400DD for sale, that should clue you in a little bit.

Kind of a trick question... a lot depends on where you are hunting and what for. The 12" seems to give a bit more depth than the standard for general hunting. The 14" is great for relic hunting, but i wouldnt select it over th 12" or even the standard on the beach for smaller objects.

I might add that I use the 14" mainly for coin shooting as rings are very rare here at the inland beaches.
15 mm coins do I hit with no problems at about 3 to 4" I have yet to find some deeper coins except for a german 10 pfennig at about 6 to 7" or so...(just roughly estimated depths)
Though it might have problems with nailing the small jewelry.
