Re: I now own a White's Coinmaster 4900D
Wow, that in itself is a great find.
Those were pretty darned good detectors in their day too.
To have one in mint condition is a real treasure.
I had an old 6000 Di and it worked like a charm.
Used it back in the 80s a few times, then sat in my
garage for 20 years - got it out last December and started
using it - still worked wonderfully well.
Convinced me to get a modern machine (MXT),
and sold that old 6000 for a pretty penny on eBay.
Good luck - - and the little label, well that's a little personal
touch that is just icing on the cake, aye?!

Re: I now own a White's Coinmaster 4900D
I still use a 5900 Di Pro that I bought in the late '80s. Works great. The only problem I had was the original coil went bad after a years lite use. Sent the whole unit back to Whites and they replaced the coil.
Note to self: Gotta get out and do more MDing.

Re: I now own a White's Coinmaster 4900D
Does that ever bring back memories!! The 4900D was my 1st detector. Bought it new in '85 , I want to say for $329 & it sure found lots of goodies for me.It payed for itself in a short time. I used it, abused it & it never skipped a beat. I loved the TR mode with its non-motion discrimination. I set the discriminator by throwing a nickel on the gound & adjusted until it was barely readable & then turned the disc down until I heard the nickel clearly. The GEB Max went DEEP!

Does anyone own a Coinmaster 5000/D? My buddy just got one without the manual and needs to know how many AA batteries it takes ? ?
