What's the story on Eclipse 950's??????

I just ordered 2 Blue Max 950 coils to replace coils for 6000 and IDX from kellyco. What I got instead was Eclipse 950's. Kellyco sez it's the same coil as Blue max with a different sticker. White's web site has the eclipse series listed in the 3-15 khz DFX section and blue max listed in the 6.59 khz section. Is there any difference at all?

IDX had BLACK MAX 950...the eclipse AIR TESTS better than battered black max...so it appears as though it'll work...just curious if any one could shed any light on white's sticker multi-personality disorder. Is there any difference in the actual electronics of Blue max, Black max or Eclipse 950's?

Blue Max, Black Max coils fit the IDX,5900,6000 series. Eclipse 950 fits DFX, MXT and M6 detectors.
The pins are wired different and won't work..also different frequencies.

Could be Kellyco had some that had the Eclipse decals on the Blue Max coils.

Seems odd that some eclipse 950 labeled coils wouldn't work on IDX...then how would they know when they shipped? Is kellyco actually putting the stickers on the coils? White's just ships them out in bulk maybe, out of "blue max" stickers so used eclipse ones instead? That's what feaked me out, I know eclipse coils different freq.

The coils I got, no matter what the sticker sez, work great on IDX and 6000, both machines have already hit silver and gold with new hardware, the new 950's do appear to be slightly more sensitive than the original stock ones...even the venerable "Black Max 950" that came on my IDX.

I'd call White's & Kellyco & make double damn sure about that coil. Using the wrong coil on your detector can possibly damage it. The DFX & MXT work on altogether different frequencies. Even if the coil doesn't damage your detector I wouldn't expect it to work very well at all.

I did call kellyco, they said just a sticker on the coil, nothing to worry about.

The new coils slightly better than the originals...tho I do miss the lower profile of the Black Max 950.

I've run into a guy with a DFX...had the exact same LOOKING eclipse 950. But not possible, clearly they HAVE to have different electronics inside, IDX and DFX have nothing in common as far as frequency goes...DFX coil would run like crap on IDX, if at all.

BUT the coil kellyco shipped me works perfectly, target IDs are exactly the same as they were...even the subleties of it...like silver dimes bounce between "penny" and "quarter" and sound a certain way, new coil responds exactly the same. The depth is slightly better too, not by much but enough to notice. Power consumption even seems a little lower, batteries last a couple hours longer too. Happy with the hardware, annoyed by the labeling on the product.

Whites & Kellyco need to get their act together and clean up this sticker mess...
