the 5.3 is basically the same as a normal coil, just smaller. the 6 x 10 DD penetrates deeper but narrower, more like a wedge shape instead of a reverse cone

Re: Whats the difference between these two coils please
The 6X10 DD will probably end up being your main coil. It is a great target separator yet large enough to still cover some ground. You won't need the 5.3 until you get into heavy trash like tot lots, picnic areas, sports field sidelines etc. Pin pointing with it can be a challenge at first but before long it will be no problem. It's also nice to have a DD coil when you run across some nasty ground. So, when the 6X10 gets there, say hello to your new best friend because you will be spending allot of time together.

Re: Whats the difference between these two coils please
The 6x10DD has a detection field like a blade running from front to back.. 1" or so less depth the
an the stock coil.. Works much better in high mineralized ground than a concentric coils like the stock and 5.3... The 5.3 has a cone shaped detection field and is very close to the same depth as the 6x10 in my ground.. The big difference is the 6x10 will cover much, much more ground than the 5.3.. Never had any trouble with pinpointing with any of my coils.. 5.3, 6x10DD, 9.5, Super12, (had a 4x6 but wasn't impressed with it.)

Re: Whats the difference between these two coils please
I use the 6X10DD as my main coil. Does a good job in trash, covers a lot of ground fast & is very stable in fairly high mineralization. Because it doesn't go quite as deep as the 9.5 stock coil I can crank up the AC Sens with the machine still running stable to make up for loss in depth. I've detected targets deeper than 10" with it.
The easiest way to pinpoint with it is to move the coil left to right until you get the loudest sound (VCO helps a lot here). Then slowly move the coil straight back toward you. When the signal just barely dissappears the target will be right at the tip of the coil. It's very accurate.
The one thing you'll notice with the depth reading will be that most fairly shallow targets will read 4.5". When the target is very shallow or deeper the depth readings are accurate. I think you'll like that coil for general detecting. The 6" round coil is tops in heavy trash, though.

from the back of your coil, go forward to the shaft and wrap it the same as a regular coil. I f you fold your coil for storage, make sure you leave enough slack so it doesn't bind, an extra velcro strap would help too, to keep the coil wire from moving and giving you false chatter

Re: Whats the difference between these two coils please nother question
The cable comes out of the coil on the left side toward the rear & wraps clockwise on the stem.
By the way - there are no stupid questions. Only those that go unasked.
